Adam Jones

Background

Adam Rhys Jones (born 8 March 1981) is a Welsh international rugby union player, currently playing for the Harlequins in the Aviva Premiership. He is one of a small group of Welsh players to have won three Grand Slams including Gethin Jenkins, Ryan Jones, Gareth Edwards, Gerald Davies and JPR Williams.

Challenge

Adam came to us without any real branding/logo to speak of. He required a series of marketing items to be created throughout his testimonial year.

Solution

The first task was to give thought to the overall branding. It made sense to make Adam become the brand which led to the visual identity using strong, gritty imagery and colours associated with his international playing career.

After a series of iterations Adam chose the option using his initials in a dynamic manner along with his shirt number.

We developed a content managed website which ensured news and events were easily updated and designed supporting literature which included the official testimonial brochure, event promotional leaflets, menus and stationery.

An app was also created that focused on the sporting stars legendary hairstyle which in days shot to the top of the UK iTunes charts in the 'Sports' category!
