Digital Bridgend

Background

The Digital Bridgend project is a new and exciting development for the County that aims to place Bridgend as a leader in the field of providing heritage interpretation via digital means.

With more and more people owning smartphones and tablets and increasingly using these devices to access all sorts of information, Digital Bridgend looks to capitalise on this trend and provide these users with an exceptional experience whilst 'out and about' in the County Borough.

Challenge

We were commissioned by Bridgend Bites (Bridgend Tourism), to create a digital experience where tourists can discover the stories of the valleys around Bridgend.

Solution

Using a mixture of 3D maps, immersive 360 degree environments and video content we enabled visitors to discover the history, myths, legends of Bridgend across 17 unique experiences within 6 Bridgend locations.

The 17 experiences are spread across 6 hubs — Ogmore Valley, Bridgend & its Castles, Garw Valley, Industrial Times, Porthcawl & the Coast and Maesteg & the Llynfi Valley.

Stories visitors can discover include: Dr Richard Price, the Maid of Cefn Ydfa, Thomas Evans and many more.

All of the content was then delivered to the users mobile device (Android/iOS) using the Junaio Augmented Reality platform.
