S4C

Background

S4C from the Welsh Sianel Pedwar Cymru, meaning 'Channel Four Wales' is a Welsh-language public-service television channel based in Cardiff and broadcast throughout Wales.

Challenge

Sugar responded to an open call for tenders to undertake a brand refresh project for S4C and their associated brands, Cyw and Stwnsh. The tender set out three areas which the refresh needed to cover; the main identity, transmission information and on screen menus and channel idents.

Solution

From a thorough understanding of the both the target demographic and wider cultural role we were able to provide a number of creative concepts. Once a direction had been chosen we then provided the in-house team logos for both the main identity along with logos for Cyw and Stwnsh, plus a number of brand assets which included a video template to deliver messages on screen.

The in-house team at S4C continue to interpret and deploy the new approach we developed, shown in their new website, app, signage, literature and subsequent marketing items.
