Sugar Creative 2014

2014 has been a year of growth and celebration for Sugar Creative Studio.

We've increased our client base significantly by winning several competitive tenders and had some great recommendations by existing clients. We've also added new team members, redesigned our website and increased our digital services. On top of this we've attended and had the opportunity to be guest speakers at several high profile events and exhibitions worldwide and created a sister company which provides beautifully designed, handcrafted mobile games and apps. It's been a busy one!

Here are some of our highlights of 2014. For a further insight into the creative services we provide and the work we've created please visit our website.

S4C 2014 highlight

A new identity for Welsh TV channel S4C

The year began with a very busy January and February having won our biggest commission to date. We were delighted to be chosen to assist S4C in creating their new brand and visual language.

The objective for the successful company was to develop the new identity and then work with the internal design team at S4C to guide them to a point where the new brand concept could be handed over for implementation and disseminated throughout the organisation with a view to launching in the Spring of 2014.

This concept would have to work effectively when implemented on S4C’s website, and all digital platforms, on all marketing and printed media as well as on the channel itself.

The tender set out three areas which the refresh needed to cover; the main identity (including 'Cyw', their kids programming segment and 'Stwnsh', their teen programming segment), transmission information and on screen menus and channel idents.

Dan-Yr-Ogof 2014 highlight

Bringing dinosaurs back to life with the Dan-yr-Ogof 'Adventure App'

Dan-yr-Ogof approached us to consider what a digital interpretation of their attraction would look like for a visitor to their site. After careful consideration we pitched the idea of an 'Adventure App' initially for the iPad which would have several features for a visitor to engage with whilst at the site and some features that could be utilised before a visit.

You can read more about the completed project via our Dan-yr-Ogof case study.

Our Trade Mission to San Francisco with the Welsh Government

In March, Dan and Jase travelled to San Francisco with a small delegation on behalf of the Welsh Government on a trade mission representing the creative industries in Wales.

Highlights from their journey included visiting the headquarters of Apple & Google, appearing on TWiT.TV and attending the massive Games Developer Conference at the Mosconi Center (oh… and not forgetting... driving a Chevrolet Camero across the Golden Gate Bridge).

You can read more about Dan and Jase's adventures via our blog diaries.

Digital Bridgend 2014 highlight

All via an immersive augmented reality experience users can track dinosaurs, smelt iron, uncover lost treasure and hunt ghosts in 17 unique destinations.
